What are the differences between smectite graphite and flake graphite

The appearance of graphite has brought great help to our life. Today, we will take a look at the types of graphite, earthy graphite and flake graphite. After a lot of research and use, these two kinds of graphite materials have high use value. Here, Qingdao Furuite Graphite Editor tells you about the differences between these two kinds of graphite:

I. Flake graphite

The crystalline graphite with scales and thin leaves, the larger the scales, the higher the economic value. Most of them are disseminated and distributed in rocks. It has obvious directional arrangement. Consistent with the direction of the level. The content of graphite is generally 3% ~ 10%, up to more than 20%. It is often associated with Shi Ying, feldspar, diopside and other minerals in ancient metamorphic rocks (schist and gneiss), and can also be seen in the contact zone between igneous rock and limestone. Scaly graphite has a layered structure, and its lubricity, flexibility, heat resistance and electrical conductivity are better than those of other graphite. Mainly used as raw material for making high purity graphite products.

II. Earthy graphite

Earthlike graphite is also called amorphous graphite or cryptocrystalline graphite. The crystal diameter of this graphite is generally less than 1 micron, and it is an aggregate of microcrystalline graphite, and the crystal shape can only be seen under an electron microscope. This kind of graphite is characterized by its earthy surface, lack of luster, poor lubricity and high grade. Generally 60 ~ 80%, a few as high as more than 90%, poor ore washability.

Through the above sharing, we know that it is necessary to distinguish the two kinds of graphite in the process, so that the materials can be better selected, which is very important for graphite application manufacturers.
